Printing in black and white on a Mac is a simple process that can be done with just a few clicks. Whether you want to conserve your color ink or print a document that doesn't require color, printing in black and white is a quick and easy option.

  1. Open the document you want to print on your Mac and choose File > Print or press Command-P to open the Print dialogue box.
  2. In the Print dialogue box, you will see a preview of your document. Locate the Print in Color section and uncheck it, or select the Black & White box if it is available.
  3. Click Print to initiate the printing process. You can also adjust other settings such as Presets, Copies, Print Range, Double-Sided, Paper Size, Orientation, and Scaling from the same print screen to customize your print job.

Creating a black and white preset to print on Mac can be helpful if you have frequently used print settings. To create a preset:

  1. Open the document you want to print and click File > Print.
  2. Select Black & White printing, choose any other settings you want to use in black and white, and then click the Presets drop-down menu.
  3. Click Save Current Settings as Preset, enter a name for your preset, and choose whether to save it for All Printers or Only This Printer.
  4. Click OK to save your preset, and you can now use it to print in black and white.

If you encounter printing issues, you can try troubleshooting by removing and reinstalling the printer or connecting and disconnecting it. If your Mac doesn’t recognize the printer, try unplugging it and reconnecting it. If it’s a wireless printer, try using a USB-C cable. Updating the printer’s software from the manufacturer’s website can also help. To remove and add a printer again:

  6. Reconnect the printer to your Mac.
